A clase that rocked Reflection # 11

The blog was a new experience for most of us student , it was also a very complicated form of writng considering lack of instumetal helping tools and problematic internet acses. The blog might have been I little more complicated than I though but the idea of publishing you work for al to see was an exilerating proses. I loved reading and making coment and loved seing other people point of view but I still think the blog is an experience better left to really experience writer than rather simple student like us that don’t even understand most instruction or composing format, that is just my opinion some people my differ from my point of view. We did read I little bit of every thing and it was fun especially the clase, we saw movies , TV show and sitcomes, even some radio naration, and much more visual aid if you want to get technical an all ; the only fall back was over load of work we hade and it was hard to juggle this amount when you have other clases . The overall experience was fantastic , graphic novel, crasy sex poem , perverted dialog novel drama, exelirating doble meaning story , and many more attention graving form of writing this clased rocked for me any way.

The Maus experiense the Graphic Novel Reflection # 10

Maus was great, it was incredible and insightful because is not often you see a comic book or a graphic novel based on real life stories like the Holocaust. Comic books were all like naruto stuff but Maus showed me a different type reading and understanding comic or graphic novels. I will start by saying that the relationship between Artie and Vladek was pretty unorthodox, it was confusing to figure out Arties mind and how he felt about his father, and still I think a lot of people have the same problem. People sometimes see grown people as a bother rather than as a family that is how sometimes Artie sees Vladek. The novel was depicted by animal drawing it was curious aspect of the author but it made it more interesting, it made it more dramatic when the Germans were killing the Jews. Also the novel was really cruel it showed how they were treated and tortured. I think that is the reason why I enjoyed it so much, not that. If you see pictures of how the Nazis left Poland and the victims of it, it totally matches what the actual events of the true history of the Nazi campaign.
Maus led me to realize how fun graphic novel can be its very different from other comic I have read, although I have been a fan of some magna before reading this. It is definitely one great peas of written work. Some pictures tell us more and a than any word expressed by the author, they also can show us expression and feeling with those visual images. I really loved the novel. I’m definitely eager to read an other graphic novel again.

Reflection#9 What is love and can you handle its truth (M.Butterfly)

This story although long it is entertaining for it those type of stories that you can't help to get hooked on especially if its read out loud in class and it also carries a realistic background and ironic and humorous plot; kootles to David Henry Hwang for M.Butterfly play. This play is divided in three acts and it has seven characters, one of them is Rene Gallimard which is the protagonist and the antagonist is Song Liling believe it or not. This play takes place in a prison in Paris and it also presents thing from the past from 1966 to a near present (Beijing during 1960-1970). Gallimard loved the opera of Madame Butterfly (by Giacomo Puccini) the whole play is based on this famous opera. Rene Gallimard identifies himself as Pinkerton, a character of the opera M.Butterfly. This play begins in a prison in a Paris (1988) the protagonist, Gallimard speaks to us (the readers) and describes the cell and talk of how he has become a celebrity and how everyone knew who he was. Gallimard has a friend named Mark, and there are scenes in this play were they discuss and analyze oriental women, which they see as easy and cheap. Mark is always telling Gallimard how a man lives his life and how easy it is to be with as many oriental women as they want without ever having in mind their desires. There are scenes where Gallimard is demonstrated arrogant he had affairs without ever being ashamed nor should any remorse.

Gallimard was married to Helga to whom he was unfaithful with Song Liling. Unfortunately, Gallimard was charged by the French government with treason, apparently his companion Song Liling had been an agent for the Chinese government a perfect woman that turned out to be a man in all his mystery and had passed on political information that he had acquired. It is surprising because he spent twenty years of his life without ever noticing that She was a imposter a man disguised as a woman., but there were scenes where he was very shy and didn’t have the courage to speak to women and there were scenes that suggest in a way that he didn’t like having sex with women he wasn’t that satisfied although he says he was; that turned out to be although weird but ironic to the core. He wasn’t that happy or excited of having sex with a girl, that wasn’t taking the initiative of being with him. When he was with Song, it was different, he liked being with her, even though he never saw her naked (when they had sex, she always asked to turn the lights off) so the story it self has a lot of twist and turn but one can be ashore that they will shock you. This play of a play has open barrier that most play writer don't dear to make and make you the reader ask yourself what is the prize of ignorant love and can you handle that truth.

Reflection#8 "The not so love song"

The poem" The love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" is a most powerful work of literature it has a lot of allusion and symbolism. Its allusion and symbolism makes the poem although complicated but challenging. T.S.Eliot's out did him self this time. The poem referred to mid life crisis which normally happens to most people in some point or a another; but the mid life situation here was a little more complex for it referred to somebody reasoning of weather it was worth to have sex with a prostitute to enjoy his remaining youth, to taste a peach if you know what I mean. This protagonist was in time of his life were desperate act or more than just desperate though. This man had a chip in his shoulder that he could never remove and that chip was age a fact that made him self-conscious of all his deeds. The truth is that his intention was never clear for he was undeceiving person that had lived what seems a cluttered life. This man in some way code be let to believed to be a priest although the idea of him getting to the point to consider such thing like sex for money way off a minister or priest moral standards but non the less it could be referred to some one with a history of religious back ground. In most cases you can see a lot of qualities in the poem that shout T.S. Eliot for example the fog that in other word meant a cat and T.S. Eliot loved cats as my English professor explained in classes. The poem could of easily been about the author himself, it could of been T.S.Eliot suppressed inner ego; this is something that made the story seem more realistic and more interesting considering its harsh and depressing tone. The fact is this poem isn’t about a love song but the complete apposite of one ironic to the core ,its most certainly riveting. I consider this poem a most read poem and a well piece of linguistics literature. To find the true meaning of this unpredictable poem you most read it and disifer the allusions yourself.

Reflection#7 “Familiar Poem”

I choose a poem called Order in the street by Donald Justice, this poem although having a plane text I still find it rather unique it most definitely can be compared to something one saw on a movie or something one read that cut its attention. If I'm not correct this poem is stated in the page that it came from an instructions printed on a child toy. It was quoted from some label by a writer from the New York Times. This bring this small poem a sort of ironic sense; for it speaks how I child toy can have such implication. The other sense I find ironic is the fact that this little passage has a rhythm or rather a rhyme which can really make you think whether if this little passage was written un purpose or it’s just a foe pa. This poem has cut my attention for it makes me imagine something I would play with when I was younger and I would probably even notice this coincidence if it wasn’t that I read this poem today. The constants repetition of the word jeep its what really give it that eristic value. This poem is most certainly very catchy. This in my opinion a most read poem. One can get some awkward flashback from reading this poem ,not excluding the fact that this poem is really descriptive it has a lot of imagery in other words in contains a complet batle scene in a few frases. This cude be consider a nonpoetic piece of literature but you have to read it carefully tu really se its poetic advertisement if you know what I mean.

Reflection #6 “The Chunky one, the tall Goony, the Queenie, and AP”

This story A. P. wasn’t one of my favorite story although it was humorous and a bit entertaining, the fact is I could barley understand what the writer was expressing too us the readers. The story had imagery and was very descriptive but it had no order. It seem like this story was writing based un hormonal teenager with time to spare. No offense to those who read this story and liked it but it was a waste of common sense. The writer might have a unique stile of writing but I didn’t get it very well it seemed a little farfetched or rather squeshy. I hope this story wasn’t based on a true event because if it did I would tell that Sammy he was incompetent fool to leave his money earning job to impress I couple of girl that probably don’t give a crap ( sorry for any harsh word seen in this reflection) about what he did or did not do. The fact are that he might have other motives for quitting that job but waste really necessary to do it for that particular reason to impress some unknown girls. The plot is weird and the story line is weirder but what surprised me or better said confused me more about this particular story was the way every single though that went through his simple headed mind was expressed. The only good thing I encountered from this story was his humorous remarks about these girls. The chunky , chubby was the one that caught his sight first, the goony the tall but yet normal one was the second one he criticized , and the queenie the perfect, pretty, and most expressive of the three , this was whom I think was the reasoned for him to quit. This three girl were described through out the whole story. The other thing that I found beneficial was to find out that this A.P was actually restaurants over there in the states, seem bum I Known but is the truth.

Reflection#5 the Classic Daughter –Mother Relationship

This short story “girl” by Jamaica Kincaid is a classic story reflecting on mother-daughter relationship in postcolonial society. I find this story incredibly short and incredibly unusual especially for its way of dialect and composer. This short story is a complete sentence it has now division of any type except for the semicolon, the paragraph although a sentence has rather a sense of rhyme and order that seemed although dull but sort of catchy. This story its self reflect on how mother persuades her daughter to act a live as a civilized and proper young woman. The mother emphasizes a critical statement to her daughter in which seem like she is scolding or rather insulting her daughter. In some cases you might think that the mother might just joking around considering the way she would exaggerate the list of how to be a proper woman but I still consider it more of a complaint in yet a sarcastic matter. The truth is that you could hear the girl in some cases defend her self or better said rebottle what her mother is saying and that mean it is not a joke rather a discussion. I think that the girl although innocent might of accidentally lead people to think that she was mostly like her mother said a slut but she was just not aware of her actions. I consider the fact in those times you call slut what now in day you call tease but that is circumstantial. The complete story could have really be based on a argument or just the closeness of too family members its up to you to decide which one it is.

Reflexion#4 The Perfect Short Story

Reflexion#4 The Perfect Short Story

The Cask of Amontillado is one the most proclaimed stories of all time. Edgar Allen Poe is a true genius of the literary art he has created a perfect but perplexed short story. This story may only be only four pages but is filled of irony in which has made this one story a most read type of story. Story contain a lot of crude topic for example the fact that there was revenge, murder, and if not mistaken alcoholism. The fact that this story is based on a different time or better said a half century ago people philosophy were different, back then people had different priority and its different morality. The truth is that known in day it takes more than just a simple insult to kill a person that you consider a friend. The facts are that not only he wanted him dead he wanted him to die by his hands. The scary thing is that Fortunato didn’t expect that his life was going to end by his only vise in life wine and by saying that he did not expect that his sol called friend would have delivered him to his demise; that was a real irony of this short story. Merseto was a Manson and the fact that his sign/arm represents a snake biting on a shoe while the man stomped on the snake ironically represents his personality. Considering that Fortunato insulted Merseto took his revenge by killing the one that hurt his ego. This story contains a lot of different view on how to interpret the end and why is he telling us the reader what happened. I consider this story the bragging of a cruel and un just man how could not take an insult.

Reflection #4 The horror story

This story “Rose for Emily” is most definitely one of the most terrifying stories I have read. Its tone is not only dark but it has or it contains a lot of gothic element which can make the story seem like true possible event. In the class we discussed about a similar but yet real situation were the act of necrophilia was presented and that a person would preserve there dead spouse. This story contain a part whish can be determined has symbolism but at he same time has a part that can be considered as realistic. In the case of symbolism the father represented the power and the control over Emily even in death. The truth is that Emily was so submissive to her father dominances that she was left too feel like he was never dead an that what provoke her to do such a terrifying act. The fact that she had screwed perspective of life and death. She also seemed so desperate to have a man figure around her al time that she committed that act of poising and preserving that poor Negro body. The story at first might of seemed innocent enough but her secrecy made the story appealing to the reader to keep on reading to see what was really going un. In away her life seemed crowded by mystery since first time that she had to pay taxes to the appearance or better said the disappearance of that possible homosexual African American man. That perspective part were she asked the clerk for arsenic made me too believe that she was capable of terrible thing but I never suspected such hay horridness act of insanity even if the writer expressed her as saine but her background led me to believe otherwise. So in conclusion I must say this story is a must read for its graphic representation and its suspenseful mood of the story.

Reflecion#2 A unusual literature

Daniel Serrano
English 3104
January, 28 2007

The story “Hills like White Elephant” by Ernest Hemmingway is a rather unusual story or better said an unusual conversation. This story is the first short story I have ever read that could only be understood if read more than two times. The Story it self had an inner meaning which took time to decipher. The story was mostly dialog and very little narration. The short story could only be described as unique and unusual, two word that normally contradict one an other. The short story had many controversial topics like abortion and even statutory rape (depending on the character real age). The story it self can be hard to read so it take a level of education and maturity to understand, But it is still a must read story.

In the other hand this story depicted character could be considered as naïve especially the girl named jig , this character although had doubts of the operation she still managed to go through with it she was rather gullible but that is just my opinion of what happen. In the man case I find him rather undisisive and immoral. I consider that the only reason a person should go through with such a thing or do something that drastic is if the person health or child health is in danger in which this case it wasn’t. The only reason they were going to do what they did was because there relationship or happiness was in jeopardy. In any case I can not judge for I really don’t know the whole sinario of the story it lack detail to determine the reason why they really considered such a thing.

The story has a lot of spaces or part that weren’t clear and might cause some confusion to the reader but it still is interacting. I think the reason why it lack so mush background was because the author created it to make the reader think rather than just read. The story might of being repetitive but like my proffer said it has more topics of which to debate and talk about than that one might of suspect. In conclusion I can say that this short story was a most interesting experience not only for it debates that occurred but reading it as well.

Refleccion#1 My first thought

This probably my first experience with writing to a public audience as well as my first time commenting of what i read and though of a particular topic. With this said i will tell you what i thought about the shorty story i read in my class. The short story "The boy without a flag" is a swell way to start the new year for it represent the power and the righteousness of are present and past writers. The story expresses the art of combining past and present ideal with humorous but still ironic sense of humor, the relationship between the father and protagonists of this story partakes a well common situation between families now in day and every other past day as well; most father always want there children to not make the same mistakes they have done in the past. This story gives political reference which can be beneficial toward us since it tell of all the corruption and controversy the U.S. has brought in the past , even in this day and age you can still see this same problem a big example the present war Bush brought has uprising many controversy and injustice. In conclusion i think this story read in my English 3104 class has been since like not only a good ice breaker but a perfect story one can relate considering its vast content.
