Reflection#5 the Classic Daughter –Mother Relationship

This short story “girl” by Jamaica Kincaid is a classic story reflecting on mother-daughter relationship in postcolonial society. I find this story incredibly short and incredibly unusual especially for its way of dialect and composer. This short story is a complete sentence it has now division of any type except for the semicolon, the paragraph although a sentence has rather a sense of rhyme and order that seemed although dull but sort of catchy. This story its self reflect on how mother persuades her daughter to act a live as a civilized and proper young woman. The mother emphasizes a critical statement to her daughter in which seem like she is scolding or rather insulting her daughter. In some cases you might think that the mother might just joking around considering the way she would exaggerate the list of how to be a proper woman but I still consider it more of a complaint in yet a sarcastic matter. The truth is that you could hear the girl in some cases defend her self or better said rebottle what her mother is saying and that mean it is not a joke rather a discussion. I think that the girl although innocent might of accidentally lead people to think that she was mostly like her mother said a slut but she was just not aware of her actions. I consider the fact in those times you call slut what now in day you call tease but that is circumstantial. The complete story could have really be based on a argument or just the closeness of too family members its up to you to decide which one it is.

Reflexion#4 The Perfect Short Story

Reflexion#4 The Perfect Short Story

The Cask of Amontillado is one the most proclaimed stories of all time. Edgar Allen Poe is a true genius of the literary art he has created a perfect but perplexed short story. This story may only be only four pages but is filled of irony in which has made this one story a most read type of story. Story contain a lot of crude topic for example the fact that there was revenge, murder, and if not mistaken alcoholism. The fact that this story is based on a different time or better said a half century ago people philosophy were different, back then people had different priority and its different morality. The truth is that known in day it takes more than just a simple insult to kill a person that you consider a friend. The facts are that not only he wanted him dead he wanted him to die by his hands. The scary thing is that Fortunato didn’t expect that his life was going to end by his only vise in life wine and by saying that he did not expect that his sol called friend would have delivered him to his demise; that was a real irony of this short story. Merseto was a Manson and the fact that his sign/arm represents a snake biting on a shoe while the man stomped on the snake ironically represents his personality. Considering that Fortunato insulted Merseto took his revenge by killing the one that hurt his ego. This story contains a lot of different view on how to interpret the end and why is he telling us the reader what happened. I consider this story the bragging of a cruel and un just man how could not take an insult.

Reflection #4 The horror story

This story “Rose for Emily” is most definitely one of the most terrifying stories I have read. Its tone is not only dark but it has or it contains a lot of gothic element which can make the story seem like true possible event. In the class we discussed about a similar but yet real situation were the act of necrophilia was presented and that a person would preserve there dead spouse. This story contain a part whish can be determined has symbolism but at he same time has a part that can be considered as realistic. In the case of symbolism the father represented the power and the control over Emily even in death. The truth is that Emily was so submissive to her father dominances that she was left too feel like he was never dead an that what provoke her to do such a terrifying act. The fact that she had screwed perspective of life and death. She also seemed so desperate to have a man figure around her al time that she committed that act of poising and preserving that poor Negro body. The story at first might of seemed innocent enough but her secrecy made the story appealing to the reader to keep on reading to see what was really going un. In away her life seemed crowded by mystery since first time that she had to pay taxes to the appearance or better said the disappearance of that possible homosexual African American man. That perspective part were she asked the clerk for arsenic made me too believe that she was capable of terrible thing but I never suspected such hay horridness act of insanity even if the writer expressed her as saine but her background led me to believe otherwise. So in conclusion I must say this story is a must read for its graphic representation and its suspenseful mood of the story.
